The Time In Life Has Come To Decide
What Care Options Best Suites your Needs

One of the most stressful times in life for a senior or a family member is when they realize they are no longer able to function without some sort of assistance. Here are a few options that are available to you. Take your time and feel free to use all the resources on this site. There is absolutely no charge to you for any of the information found here.

One option is for a family member who is willing and able to move in and assist the senior or disabled individual. Given the choice most people needing full-time in-home care would pick this option. It allows the individual to remain in their home where they are most comfortable and relaxed. This is not a decision to be taken lightly. There are many factors for the individual and the family caregiver to discuss.

A second option could be a Companion Caregiver. The companion caregiver is just that. A companion who may only assist a few hours a day when needed or they may live with the individual needing care. This person takes on many roles companion, Guardian, chauffeur, chef and housekeeper just to name a few. These individuals normally do not have any formal medical training.

A third option could be a professional Home Healthcare company. An advantage to this type of company is the ability to furnish personnel with formal medical training. Nurses who are able to administer medications, take care of wounds and other general medical needs. Some of the cost may also be covered by the individuals insurance.

In some cases an adult day care facility may be the best option. If the caregiver living with the individual for instance has to work and no one is available to care for the person during this time could be one example. Another example would be the caregiver having more responsibilities and meeting some relief.

Another choice could be moving to an assisted living facility. This can range from a condo, cottage our assisted living center. This choice may be the best option for someone who just can’t take care of the routine maintenance of owning their own home. This relieves them from the stress of taking care of the landscape, painting and other routine maintenance.

A Skilled Nursing Unit Also Known as skilled care centers and nursing homes may be needed if 24-hour full medical care is required. More and more of these facilities are devoting part of their resources to rehabilitation and returning the person to their homes.
